Hunger Walk/Run 2012

It’s time for Hunger Walk 2012!  Last year, our congregation had a record number of participants and our highest ever contribution of over $3,000.  We would love to keep this trend going with your help this year, too.  All proceeds collected through Hunger Walk/Run remain in our communities.  Also, a percent of all funds we raise come back to us to fund our other hunger-fighting programs such as Blessings in a Backpack.  Last year, our efforts resulted in $775 food grant for our church.  Please take a look at the event information below and consider supporting this worthy cause.  No donation is too large or too small.  Atlanta Community Food Bank can buy 10 pounds of food for just $1.  So, every dollar we raise goes a long way in helping fight hunger in our community.  Thank you.
What:  5K Walk/Run through downtown Atlanta to benefit hunger relief efforts in our communities
When:  Sunday, March 11, 2012
     -12:00 Park Opens/Event Registration Begins
     -2:00  5K Walk/Run
     -4:00  Park Closes
Come early to enjoy entertainment, food and games before the races begin.
Where:  Green Lot at Turner Field.  We will meet by the Lutheran Services of Georgia tent.  All walkers and runners are encouraged to park in the Turner Field Blue Lot to avoid crossing the street (parking is free).  The Blue Lot is just above the Green Lot where the event is held on Capitol Avenue.  The Run and Walk will go through downtown Atlanta.
Why:  In Georgia 27.9 percent of children live in poverty – that’s more than 700,000 children under age 18.  Nearly 1.7 million Georgians (17.9%) are living in poverty — that’s equivalent to more than 26 sold out games at Turner Field.  Also, 10.7 percent of Georgia’s senior citizens live in poverty – that’s more than one in every ten senior citizens in Georgia.

Who:  Everyone is invited to participate.  Event is family friendly for all ages.

How:  Join our Holy Trinity team at http://acfb.convio.net/goto/htlcteam or sign up at our ministry station.  If you raise $25 you will receive a free event t-shirt.  If you are unable to attend the event, you can still go to the web site above and donate to this worthy cause.  Starting in February, we will also have a ministry station setup for cash or check donations (checks should be payable to Hunger Walk/Run).  Finally, you can help us by spreading the word and recruiting your co-workers, friends and family to join, too.  Participate, donate and spread the word!  Thank you!
