Welcome to our church family.

Organizational Structure

Holy Trinity’s many programs and ministries are organized, and receive guidance and planning “from the ground up” through the involvement of lay people in the decision making process at the committee level. Congregational elected Church Council members serve as either Chairperson or Recorder of the various committees, and submit reports to the council following committee meetings. Any items requiring council action are handled at the next Council meeting.

Committee meetings are normally the first week-end of the month. This system of meetings allows time for the Senior Pastor, the President of the Congregation and the Church Administrator to attend and be a part of each committee. It also allows for interaction between the various committees:

Committee Meeting Schedule:

Normally eight (8) months of the year, excluding the month of school Spring Break and/or Easter, June, July and December.

  • Saturday 6:30 PM – Saturday Worship (meet quarterly or as needed)

Our committees are as follows:

Children and Family Ministries

This ministry is a cooperative effort between church and home to effectively reach the children of our community with the message of Jesus and His love. We accomplish this through Sunday School, First Communion instruction, Vacation Bible School, community events such as our Easter Egg Hunt, Breakfast with Santa, Christmas Pageant and movie nights. Educational ministry for our adults and young adults is also part of this committee, with oversight for the planning of adult Sunday School and other mid-week classes/seminars/study groups and fellowship opportunities.

Endowment Committee

This committee serves as the Custodian of the monies in the Endowment Fund which was established to enhance the mission of Holy Trinity apart from the general operational budget, except where authorized in the terms of the gift. All principal amounts will be retained and only the income expended. (This appointed committee meets “as-needed.”)

Evangelism and Outreach

The Evangelism team focuses on programs and activities to “Share the Good News of Christ” with our congregation and the Marietta community. From providing/overseeing the “Coffee Fellowship” after each service, blanketing the community with informational door hangers, identifying and calling “First Time Visitors” to invite them back, our goal is to promote Holy Trinity as a wonderful choice for worship and fellowship. We develop print ads, brochures and banners to advertise the church programs offered to attract the community to our church.

Fellowship

In conjunction with other standing committees, help provide/plan/oversee several events during the year for the entire family which gives our congregational family and friends many opportunities for fellowship and fun. (NOTE – each committee plans/oversees their own committee fellowship activities)

Financial Management

This committee is responsible for maintaining accurate reporting by the Financial Secretary, the Church Treasurer, Memorials Treasurer and any other financial report of the congregation. They also work closely with the paid bookkeeper to oversee purchasing, monthly expense reports, and also the preparation of the church budget.

Personnel Committee

This appointed committee works closely with the staff in preparation of yearly evaluations, makes recommendations regarding staff raises & bonuses, works with staff and leaders in preparing and maintaining appropriate hiring practices and works to keep an up-to-date employee handbook. This is an appointed committee and meets “as needed.”

Property Management Committee

This group oversees the protection, care, repair and maintenance of church property, both buildings and grounds, painting, landscaping, and planting. This committee also works with contractors, as needed, and with companies maintaining service contracts (i.e. HVAC, pest control, elevator, lawn care, etc).

Social Ministry

This congregation has a very active program of support and outreach into the community. We provide opportunities to participate in Angel Food Ministry, work at Redeemer Lutheran Soup Kitchen in downtown Atlanta; support MUST Ministries, a Cobb County interfaith organization; Lutheran Services of Georgia – a not-for-profit human services agency; Lutheran World Relief Coffee Project; Habitat for Humanity; Heifer International, and many other service/special projects throughout the year.

Stewardship Committee

This group works to educate the congregation in ways to make stewardship of our Time, Talent and Treasure a year-round program. This is done through articles, Temple Talks during Worship services, and at our annual Commitment Time during November.

Worship Committee

This group supports the pastor(s) and appropriate staff members as they oversee and plan meaningful Worship Services and discuss any changes in schedule or programming in support of this ministry. They also make sure we celebrate the “means of grace” each time we gather through a pattern which incorporates confession and forgiveness, public scripture reading, sung and spoken liturgy, hymns and songs, proclamation of God’s word, and the observance of Holy Communion. The Committee also oversees the flowers, banners, altar paraments, displays and other expressions of worship.

The Saturday and Sunday Subcommittees oversee specific service planning for their respective services. Liturgy, music, ushers, youth volunteers are some of the specific areas handled by each subcommittee. The Saturday subcommittee meets quarterly on Saturday, just prior to the Saturday Service. The Sunday Committee meets the first Sunday of the month at 5:30 p.m. The Saturday casual service (come as you are) offers a blend of new choruses, current contemporary Christian music and familiar songs. The Sunday morning services follow the Revised Common Lectionary to provide the worship emphasis for the day. The liturgically based services are a mix of the ancient and the new.

Technology Committee

This committee advises the Property Committee & Church Council and other Congregational Committees on technology strategy. Coordinates and analyzes strategic and tactical requests from various sources throughout the year. Advises on standards with respect to various technology solutions used in the congregation that support church operations. This committee meets “as needed” as part of the Property Committee.

Youth and Family Ministry

This group involves the Director of Youth and Family Ministry and leaders from all parts of the congregation to work in developing and maintaining a planned program for youth (grades 6-12) and their families and promote attendance and involvement in all youth/family activities.

The focus on Sunday morning includes confirmation for grades 6-8, which includes small group/large group sharing, and Sunday School for grades 9-12. This group also oversees that there is ample opportunity to be involved in fellowship and service-learning projects both within the congregation and in the community, as well as opportunities for study, sharing, fellowship, and fun for grades 6-12, including Sunday night Junior and Senior Youth program and meals.

Youth in both age groups (grades 6-8 and grades 9-12) are also encouraged to attend age-appropriate Synod activities, including such things as AFFIRM and All Georgia (meet yearly).

Lay Leadership

The Lay Leadership of this congregation is called our Congregational Council. They in turn serve as chair of one of our committees, or as the recorder for a committee when the committee is chaired by a person not currently serving on the Congregational Council
