The service at 7:00 pm will be the Celtic Prayer Service with Cheryl Slaughter, Celtic Harp, and Larry Riddle, Recorder. We will not have Children’s Church during this service nor for the remainder of our Wednesday night Lenten services.
Prior to the service, from 6:00 – 6:45 pm, there will be a catered meal in the Upper Room with baked chicken, macaroni and cheese, mixed vegetables and cheesecake squares. You MUST sign up for this meal either on your Member Worship Card, by calling the office at 770-971-4600 or e-mailing nwinkler@holytrinitymarietta.org by MONDAY NOON.
Professional child care will be available during this service starting at 6:45pm.
Children’s Church is a worship experience especially for children ages 3 to 2nd grade (although all ages are certainly welcome). The children go to the chapel, which is in the sanctuary hall near the bathrooms, with a pastor and helpers, during the Hymn of the Day. They will hear the Bible story of the day and talk about elements of worship in a child-friendly and experiential way, and then will return to the sanctuary during the Peace.
Children’s Church will take place on April 18, May 2, and May 16 before taking a hiatus for summer. When Sunday School begins in the fall, Children’s Church will be at our 11:00 worship service every week. Volunteers and parent helpers are needed and welcomed; please contact Gaye Markham if you can be a “shepherd” for children’s church!
LOUD is Holy Trinity’s new youth worship service for our Jr and Sr Youth. It’s name is two-fold, LOUD stands for “Loving Our LORD Unashamedly Day after Day” and as the name is LOUD, the service is also filled with lots of loud music. The service is short, 30 minutes, and includes some great loud, upbeat, recent music, much of which the youth have requested. We’ll have a brief interruption of a game or video clip, a short Message/Sermonette, and of course Communion. The service is held during youth group from 6:30-7:00pm every other week.
Come join the fun as we have crafts, snacks, a huge egg hunt, and free pictures with the Easter Bunny. This is a good event to invite friends, neighbors and relatives. Donations of plastic eggs and non-chocolate candy are needed and can be dropped off in the Fellowship Hall.
The Spring 2010 class will be on Sunday, April 25, 2:00 – 3:30 pm. Sign-up sheets will be in the Sunday School hallway as well as the wooden table in the Fellowship Hall starting in April. The class will take its first communion on May 2 and there will be a special fellowship following the 11am service in honor of this special day in the lives of each child and the church family of Holy Trinity.

International Disaster Response of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) increased its initial financial commitment to support relief efforts in Haiti to $600,000. The Rev. Rafael Malpica Padilla, executive director, ELCA Global Mission, made the announcement Jan. 15, emphasizing the significance of a coordinated response by the “Lutheran family” in the United States.
Following the devastating Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti, the ELCA made an initial financial commitment of $250,000 to the disaster. The church said it would advance another $500,000 based on member giving.
Malpica Padilla said the $600,000 commitment is based on “a strong and generous response” this week by ELCA members. The figure could soon be increased to more than $1 million, pending the continuing response of members, he said.
Financial contributions to support relief efforts in Haiti can be made at http://www.ELCA.org/haitiearthquake or by calling 800-638-3522.
